Immersive band website concept

God Is An Astronaut is a concept website for the Irish post-rock band, designed to give fans a more atmospheric way to explore the band online. The project brings together albums, tours, merchandise, and media in a clear structure, while the visual direction reflects the band’s cinematic sound, dark mood, and immersive identity.

current digital
presence
The band is active across Bandcamp and social media,
but fans still lack one clear place for music,
tours, merch, news, and media.

1.content spread across platforms
Music is available on Bandcamp, while announcements and updates are shared through Facebook and Instagram. As a result, fans need to navigate between multiple platforms to discover albums, buy tickets, follow news, or explore the band's visual identity. There is no single destination that represents the band as a complete digital experience.
UX / UI issues:
Information Architecture: content is distributed across platforms
Recognition over Recall: fans must remember where to find content
Jakob's Law: inconsistent navigation between services
User Journey: no central entry point
2.disconected fan journey
Listening to music, buying albums, purchasing concert tickets, and following news happen on separate platforms, making the fan journey feel fragmented and less engaging.
UX / UI issues:
Goal-Gradient Effect: key actions require multiple steps
Cognitive Load: frequent context switching
Emotional Design: limited storytelling and brand immersion
Engagement: no cohesive fan experience
key takeaway
The band has a strong online presence, but no unified digital home. This concept brings music, tours, tickets, merchandise, news, and media into one immersive experience that strengthens the connection between the band and its audience.

from history
to immersion
The concept helps users experience the monument
before visiting through two immersive features: historical
audio narration and an interactive 3D monument model.

voice from the path
“Stimme aus der Vergangenheit” translates as “Voice from the Past.” It is an audio storytelling feature that lets users hear Arminius’ historical context instead of only reading about it. The section combines narration, translated text, and a custom audio player to make the monument’s story feel closer and more memorable.

Ich war jung, als man mich aus dem Land nach Rom brachte.
Þar ik Rūmōz werraz listō lernidō jah in heri dēnidō.

3d model tour
“3D-Modell Entdecken” is an interactive 3D experience that lets users explore the Hermannsdenkmal from every angle. Visitors can rotate, zoom, and inspect the monument while discovering historical facts through interactive hotspots. The feature brings the landmark closer and makes exploration more engaging before the physical visit.

from offer to booking
The flow connects offer selection, date filtering, time slots, ticket quantity, and final booking into one clear path.
Instead of searching across separate pages, users can move from interest to action with fewer steps and better orientation.

key takeaway
The booking experience was redesigned around the visitor's primary goal: planning a visit with minimal effort.
By connecting offer discovery, date selection, ticket configuration, and checkout into one consistent flow, the concept removes unnecessary navigation and reduces cognitive load.
This creates a more intuitive path from first interest to confirmed booking, especially for first-time visitors.
